Honda’s done it again: They made a hybrid car that’s fun to drive and environmentally conscious.  The new model is the CR-Z and at first glance, from the rear, it reminds you of the first hybrid Honda introduced, the Insight.  This car is not that, it’s a lot more!  The CR-Z I drove is the EX with  a sticker starting at $21,510.00. It has an automatic transmission but is available in a 6 – speed manual, too.  The car also has an optional navigation system.  The EX comes with blue-tooth and a killer stereo. Honda has beefed up the hybrid game with this car, as evidenced by the equipment on it, standard and optional.

The engine in the CR-Z is a 16 valve, 1.5 litre i – VTEC with Integrated Motor Assist™.  Here’s what is said about this on the Honda website:  ”Of all the hybrid systems out there, Honda’s IMA system is the simplest, most compact design. Instead of having a separate alternator and starter motor like traditional internal-combustion engines, the IMA system combines the two functions in one with an electric motor that starts the engine, accelerates the car, recharges the battery and provides regenerative braking.”

This car gets great MPG: It’s 35 in the city and 39 on the highway.  These numbers are important but the way you drive has its affects on the fuel economy you will achieve, too.  The CR-Z features a guidance system that helps boost your efficiency and monitor your own driving habits to maximize your MPG. It’s called Eco Assist™ and it includes a green ECON™ button that, when pressed, regulates certain vehicle functions to maximize efficiency. The system also features real-time feedback to help promote driver awareness of efficient driving habits on a daily and ongoing basis.

If you’re considering a sporty, fun hybrid, this car is it.  With a price tag for the EX starting at $21,510 you can’t go wrong.  As I like to say, “What can I say, it’s a Honda”.  When you’re ready to get this give me, your auto advocate, a call and I’ll help get you a fair competitive deal.
