It was announced this week that GM is giving its hourly employees profit sharing checks averaging $4000 (this is a little more that double the last one they received).  GM says they want to pay bonuses locked to profitability which is fine but be profitable for a longer periode of time before you start paying bonuses.  On top of this,  the executoives also received big fat bonus checks too.  All of this comes on the heels of massive job cuts and attacks on wages.  I’m all for sharing the wealth, but at who’s expense?  In this case it seems as if it’s the governments.  The powers that be gave huge amounts of money to GM in stimulus money that they have to pay back, has GM?  No, the people at GM are going to line their own pockets and leave the government hanging.  This really isn’t a good thing considering the deficit.  The government needs to crack down on this and demand restitution then you can start paying yourselves GM.
