How To Sell A Used Car
Have you ever wanted to sell your car but didn’t know how to go about it?
There are 4 basic steps that you need to do to accomplish this task.
1. Get Prepared
- Clean the interior and exterior of the car – a clean car will sell faster.
- Make sure everything is in working order – even the little things will make a difference if they don’t work.
- Get all car related paperwork together – make sure you have a “clean” title, if you have to payoff the car do so before you sell it.
- Price the car to sell – research the different sites liuke KBB, NADA, and Edmunds see what similar cars in the area sell for.
2. Advertise The Car
- Take pictures – pictures of all angles and both interior and exterior pictures are a must.
- Decide where to advertise – strictly on line or also in your local paper. Papers tend to be much more expensive.
- List the car – put it on the sites or in the paper.
3. Find The Buyer
- Answer Inquiries – use your cell number, don’t give people a chance to find out where you live.
- Show the car – arrange to show it in a public location, not your home.
4. Finalize The Sale
- Agree on the price – if youy’re willing to compromise on the price then do so.
- Get paperweork together – you need title (with a payoff letter if needed), bill of sale, inspection
- Get Paid – accept cash or a bank check, no personal checks
- Transfer Title – fill out the back of the title with both buyer and seller information.
